Four local farms were recognized on Friday with Hoosier Homestead awards for 100 years or more of family farm ownership.

These local families were honored during a ceremony at the Indiana State Fair:

  • The Johann Frederick Steinkamp Sr. Farm, located in Dubois County, has been in operation since 1841 and received the sesquicentennial award.
  • The Wirtzberger Farm, located in Dubois County, has been in operation since 1883 and received the centennial award.
  • The Reutman Farm, located in Dubois County, has been in operation since 1841 and received sesquicentennial award.

Two awards ceremonies are held each year, in spring and summer, to commemorate the achievements of farmers across the state. For more information on the Hoosier Homestead Award Program, visit www.in.gov/isda/2337.htm.
