A new family-style restaurant will be opening in Huntingburg in the next two to three weeks.

Jon Asani plans on opening his second American Table Family Dining restaurant location at 1205 North Main Street which formerly was home to Spudz-n-Stuff. Specializing in made-from-scratch meals in large portions at reasonable prices, Asani opened his first restaurant in Washington about a year ago.

“I saw the business (Spudz-n-Stuff) was for sale on Facebook and I was thinking that Huntingburg was nice and they could use a restaurant like ours there,” he said.

Asani immigrated to the United States from Macedonia about 15 years ago and has worked in the restaurant industry most of his life. “I love cooking,” he said. “I started cooking in my country when I was 18 and have worked in restaurants since moving to America.”

His restaurant in Washington has garnered pretty good reviews, and Asani plans on replicating that success in Huntingburg.

“Pretty much everything is homemade and fresh,” Asani explained what has made the restaurant a hit since it opened in Washington.

American Table Family Dining has an extensive menu that includes typical American fare like fried chicken, tenderloins, hamburgers, salads, beef liver as well as pasta dishes, salads, gyros and breakfast served all day. Asani credits the huge number of choices on the menu for the repeat customers.

“We have a lot of choices for people, so they come back and eat here all the time,” Asani said.

A menu is featured on the Facebook Page for the Washington store.

Asani is still looking for employees for the Huntingburg location and applicants can private message him on the company’s Facebook Page.

Asani and his wife Kristy have three boys ranging from 13 to four years old as well as a four-month-old daughter. They live in Washington.
