“Adding a movie to our annual Evening of Appetizers event makes this a perfect date night opportunity,” said Ann Recker, president of the Downtown Merchant’s Association, as well as owner of Chocolate Bliss. “Stroll downtown Jasper on a crisp fall evening, visit our wonderful local specialty shops while sampling free appetizers, and cap it off with a seasonally-appropriate movie—this is certain to be a special evening!”

The Saturday, October 29, screening of the cult-classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show is being presented by Libby’s Gourmet Ice Cream. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the movie set to begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased in advance at www.TheNextAct.org, directly here www.itickets.com/events/367564.html, or at the door the night of the show.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is renowned for its audience participation roles at different times and scenes during the film. To encourage the safety and enjoyment of the film by all in attendance, any bags brought to the theater could be checked for inappropriate items.

For a limited time, tickets for both shows can be purchased in advance for a discounted total of $10 at www.itickets.com/register/new/367496?. All net proceeds will benefit Next Act’s effort to restore and rejuvenate the historic Astra Theatre.

“The downtown merchants have been a key partner of ours since well before we actually owned the Astra Theatre,” said Leslie Hamby, Next Act’s chair person. “We are honored to partner with them in a celebration of food, shopping, and film on October 21, as well as with our friends at Libby’s for the film on October 29.”
