Dubois County holds No. 1 employment position

Dubois County remained in a tie in April with Hamilton County for the lowest unemployment in the state in a report released today.

The Dubois County rate was 3.4 percent in April, down five-tenths of a percent from the previous month, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The county was tied for a second consecutive month with Hamilton County — north of Indianapolis — for Indiana’s lowest rate.

The rates in all of Dubois County’s eight neighboring counties — Spencer, Pike, Crawford, Daviess, Martin, Orange, Perry and Warrick — also fell in April.

The state’s highest April unemployment was in Greene County — north of Daviess and Martin counties — where the rate was 7.3 percent.

Indiana’s seasonally adjusted, statewide unemployment rate in April was 5.2 percent, two-tenths of a percent higher than the seasonally adjusted national rate of 5.0 percent.
