Jasper Community Arts offers exciting season of entertainment; tickets on sale now

Jasper Community Arts announced that individual tickets for its upcoming 2017-2018 Season are now available.

Four diverse series of performing arts events will showcase twelve extraordinary artists. Traditional, New Directions, Backstage and Family Fun Series shows will be held at the Jasper Arts Center September 2017 through April 2018.

Single tickets for all performances will be sold up to the show date or until the performance is sold out. Patrons do not need to buy an entire series to order tickets, but JCAC does recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance due to demand. Single tickets are filled on a first come, first served basis, so interested patrons should order single tickets as soon as possible.

New patrons who wish to order series tickets may still do so, but should contact the box office as soon as possible. Orders are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Tickets can be purchased in four easy ways.

In Person – stop by the JCA office at 951 College Avenue, Jasper (Office hours are 9 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday)
By Mail – use the order form inside the season guide and mail to the above address
By Fax – credit card orders for Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted to our fax number (812) 634-6997
By Phone – call the JCA box office at (812) 482-3070 to place a credit card order or for additional information and a season guide. More information is available on the JCA website, www.jasperarts.org.

JCA offers patrons several packages from which to choose. Buy all four series of twelve great performances (Grand Package) for only $225 for adults, $210 seniors, and $150 student/child. Or buy any single series – Performers, Backstage, Family Fun, or bring a group of friends of 20 or more for a 15% group discount.  Of course, single tickets are available in any combination.


The upcoming PERFORMERS SERIES- TRADITIONAL is as follows:

The PERFORMERS SERIES-TRADITIONAL will feature three artists for the main stage performances. Our traditional series events seek to appeal to a broad range of art lovers. The season opens with Wynonna and the Big Noise on September 24th.  The Jive Aces will be Swing’N the Holidays on December 2nd.  The series rounds off with American classic On Golden Pond on February 18th.  Individual tickets for each of these incredible performances are $35 per person for adults, $33 for seniors, and $30 for students/children.

Wynonna and the Big Noise – Roots and Revival Tour

Once dubbed by Rolling Stone as “the greatest female country singer since Patsy Cline,” Wynonna’s rich and commanding voice has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Five-time GRAMMY winner and New York Times best-selling author, Wynonna has received over 60 industry awards, with countless charting singles, including twenty No. 1 hits such as “Mama He’s Crazy,” “Why Not Me,” and “Grandpa, (Tell Me ‘Bout The Good Ole Days).” Wynonna, along with her band The Big Noise, will explore the past, present, and future of Wynonna’s extensive 33-year career on the 2017 Roots and Revival Tour.

On Golden Pond

On Golden Pond is an American Treasure. Many of us are familiar with the story through the Academy Award – winning film with Henry and Jane Fonda and Katharine Hepburn. Others have attended one of the literally thousands of productions this extraordinary play has received over the years. Something deep and profound resonates through the events that unfold in this American masterpiece brilliantly penned by Ernest Thompson.

The PERFORMERS SERIES-NEW DIRECTIONS will feature three artists for main stage performances. In this newest series, designed for the young and young at heart, events may be a little different and off-beat, but they will still meet our standards for quality entertainment. Martial Arts and Acrobats of Tianjin, Peoples Republic of China will start the season with novel and superior techniques, showcasing acrobatic displays sure to amaze. Get your toes tapping with Rhythmic Circus, a rapid-fire tap troupe dancing to a variety of music genres.  Finally, end your season on a journey through decades of music with Six Appeal, a vocal ensemble with impeccable comedic timing and the energy of a rock band. Individual tickets for each of these performances are $35 per person for adults, $33 for seniors, and $30 for students/children.

Martial Arts and Acrobats of Tianjin, Peoples Republic of China

The Martial Arts and Acrobats of Tianjin of the People’s Republic of China (Tianjin Acrobatic Troupe) was established in 1957 as a combination of the former China Circus & Acrobats founded in 1948. It is one of the best acrobatic troupes in China, with over one hundred acrobatic, magical, and martial arts performers. With novel and superior techniques, the acrobatic troupe is favored by audiences all over the world.

FEET DON’T FAIL ME NOW! premiered in August 2008 at the Ritz Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota, when the group’s dancers and founders joined forces with the seven Twin Cities’ heavyweight musicians. Together, they integrated an inventive style of rapid-fire tap with a variety of musical genres to create a show that presents a wildly creative view into the indomitable power of the human spirit. Six Appeal

Sunday, April 15, 2018  7:30 p.m.

Six Appeal is a world class vocal ensemble infused with impeccable comedic timing and the energy and vitality of a rock band. Swearing off instruments, the award-winning vocal band takes you on a journey that spans decades of music, performing classic oldies, current chart toppers, and catchy original tunes – all sung a cappella.


The BACKSTAGE SERIES, a separate series of three events, features a unique and intimate seating arrangement with audience members most often on stage with the artist for a house concert feel. The season opener will be Landscape of Guitar on October 8th.  Julian Gargiulo, an accomplished pianist, will perform a mix of classical masterpieces mixed with his own tango transcriptions and jazz-influenced compositions on January 26th.  The season will round off with The Good Lovelies on March 9th.  Individual tickets for each of these performances are $25 per person for adults, $22 for seniors, and $15 for students/children.

Julian’s performances bring together a mix of classical masterpieces, his own tango transcriptions, and his original jazz-influenced compositions. Combining an informal style of presenting classical music with rigorous Russian conservatory training, Julian is able to transmit a unique concert experience to each and every one present.

The Good Lovelies

Audiences have been falling in love with the Good Lovelies for the past ten years. The aptly named Good Lovelies are Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough, and Sue Passmore. The Ontario based trio relies on impeccable vocals, winsome songwriting, and on stage banter drawn from a seemingly endless succession of comedic adventures on the road and at home.

The FAMILY FUN SERIES is a three-event series that features rollicking family entertainment for the young and young at heart. Our first program will feature Playing By Air on November 12th.  Audiences will be treated to two-time GRAMMY Nominee Justin Roberts on February 25th. The season will round out with an exciting and interactive production of Journey to Oz on March 14th. Individual tickets for each of these entertaining performances are $15 per person for adults and seniors, and $8 for students/children.

Justin Roberts and The Not Ready for Naptime Players

Two-time GRAMMY Nominee Justin Roberts is truly one of the “all-stars” of the indie family music scene. For nearly 20 years, Roberts has been creating the soundtrack to families’ lives, crafting songs that navigate the joys and sorrows of growing up. Justin and his band, The Not Ready for Naptime Players, have traveled the globe, from Hong Kong to New York and Miami to Seattle.

Journey to Oz

Saturday, March 14, 2017  3:30 p.m.

The works of L. Frank Baum are numerous and his tales of Dorothy and her adventures in Oz are his most beloved. In this fantastic new adaptation, we are invited to go to Oz with Dorothy as audience members become a part of an experiential production. When the cyclone comes, the entire theater enters into the eye of the storm with whisking lights and exciting music created by lauded composer Josh Totora.

All events on each Performers Series, the Backstage Series and the Family Fun Series are held at the Jasper Arts Center, 951 College Avenue, off Third Avenue on Jasper’s southeast side.  Artists and dates are subject to change.
