Indianapolis-based hotel management company General Hotels Corporation, who is partnered with Boxer Girl, LLC as part of the multiuse development, made the franchise announcement Wednesday.
The new 80-room hotel will be built on the block kiln building site of the former historic Jasper Cabinet Company on Jackson Street and will cost about $8 million to construct. Apartments and retail space including a wide variety of restaurants are also be included in the River Centre development.
With demolition underway, the hotel is scheduled to open late summer 2018.

Targeting business travelers, plans call for the new Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott to feature 80 spacious and contemporary guest rooms including suites with separate areas for working, relaxing and sleeping as well as in-room mini-refrigerator and microwave. Additional hotel amenities include free Wi-Fi, 24-hour business center, complimentary hot breakfast daily featuring healthy options, complimentary coffee and tea service, swimming pool, whirlpool, fitness room and a 24-hour market which offers snacks, drinks, toiletries and other items. The hotel will also offer complimentary surface parking to hotel guests.
