Early next week, local patients of an Evansville-based rehabilitative center will have a much shorter drive.
Pro-Rehab plans on opening a new location in Ferdinand’s Scenic Hills Commercial Park located on Industrial Park Road next week. The new Ferdinand location is the company’s twelfth in a footprint that covers Southern Indiana and western and central Kentucky.
“It’s important to us to provide service to patients close to their homes,” said Gib Riffle, director of strategic marketing with the company. “We have quite a few people that come down from Perry, Dubois and Spencer counties. When we see we have a lot of patients coming to us, then we understand it is time to come to them.”
It is the company’s theme to have clinics where their patients live, work, learn and play.
Formed in 1999, ProRehab provides hands-on physical therapy based on the newest research and is committed to getting patients the best results in fewer visits. According to Riffle, the national average on patient visits is 12 to 13 while Pro-Rehab patients can be done in seven visits. “When you get people back on their feet faster they are going to be experiencing fewer co-pays and in some cases, lower deductibles,” Riffle said adding that the company’s Medicare payout average is 57 percent of the national average in terms of cost per given patient.
ProRehab offers many services including hand rehabilitation, athletic training, strength and conditioning, work capacity evaluations, lymphedema treatment, vestibular rehab, spine care, and more. While local physicians are referring their patients to the company for treatment, patients can come in without a physician referral.
The company prides itself on providing top-notch customer service. According to Riffle, their success in that aspect is apparent in the customer satisfaction surveys they receive from their patients.
The new location’s clinic manager will be Joey Pettyjohn. Pettyjohn and his family reside in Evansville but he is originally from Mr. Carmel, Ill.
Pettyjohn graduated from the University of Evansville in 2001 with a Masters of Physical Therapy degree. He completed a doctorate of in physical therapy through the University of Kentucky in 2013 and is a board certified specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy.
“I do specialize in the treatment of orthopaedic-related injuries, including the spine,” Pettyjohn said. “Pre- and post-surgical care is another area where my training has allowed me to help patients get back on their feet quickly. It is remarkable what using leading-edge therapy can do for people in their recovery.” Sports Medicine plays a big role at ProRehab. We are the “go to” providers of physical

“We have teams of therapists that go to MLB Spring Training, the NHL Combine, MSLS and the NFL to help athletes stay healthy by using the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Y-Balance Test. The expertise we learn from working with professional athletes is a strong asset in working with patients in the communities where we have a clinic,” said Pettyjohn.
According to Pettyjohn, he is looking forward to becoming involved in the local communities the new clinic will be serving.
