The ticket holder for March 3rd’s Will Read and Sing show that pushes the local charity’s fundraising efforts past the $100,000 mark will receive a pretty cool prize, according to organizer Scott Saalman.
The troupe featuring a revolving list of writers, artists and musicians recently learned the record-breaking show for the Jasper Rotary Club had generated more than $17,000, thanks in a large part to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation contributing to the local club’s local efforts.
The donation pushed the group’s fundraising efforts within a few hundred dollars of the $100,000 mark.
Since forming in 2012, Will Read and Sing has raised $99,788 for more than 30 local organizations such as the Community Food Bank, the Association of Latin Americans in Southern Indiana (ALASI), Habitat for Humanity, TRI-CAP as well as various other causes.
The 106th show is being put on to benefit the renovation of the Astra Theatre. Advanced tickets are available at https://www.itickets.com/events/375606.html. The $10 tickets will also be available at the Astra when doors open at 6 p.m. the day of the event.
